Blending rock, jazz, classical, bluegrass, and folk may be difficult — even hazardous — but singer-songwriter and guitarist Dan Costello is up to the challenge. His solo shows display a breathtaking range of virtuosity and inexhaustible talent, moving from original song showcases to all-jazz sets to instrumental concerts to match the audience and venue. And when his band the Truck Stop Trio/Orchestra — anchored by standout Boise musicians Bob Nagel on bass and Mike Rundle on drums — takes the stage, audiences are treated to a feast of eclectic, energized, soulful bad-assery.
Arguably the hardest working musician in Boise, Dan performs an eye-popping 250+ shows per year. He has shared the stage with Steve Miller, Third Eye Blind, Darius Rucker, Robert Earl Keen, Chris Botti, Michael Manring and other noteworthy international and local talent.
He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar in 2001 and works both in and out of the scholastic realm as a performer, accompanist, editor, composer, arranger, lyricist, teacher, and manager. Dan has also served on the faculty of Boise State University's Department of Music and is an outspoken advocate of local grassroots movements in the music scene.
